Mission
In my early thirties, my department chair led a workshop where each faculty member crafted a personal professional mission statement. The exercise left a lasting impression on me, and the mission I wrote then has continued to guide my work ever since. It has evolved over the years—as it should—shaped by new experiences, broader responsibilities, and a deeper understanding of higher education.
My current professional mission is:
To promote social justice by increasing access to high-quality education and ensuring students can complete the credentials that elevate their lives.
Values
The principles that guide how I lead, collaborate, and build.
Integrity
I act with honesty, clarity, and consistency—earning the trust needed for collaborative leadership and transparent decision-making.
Equity & Social Justice
I work to expand access and create environments where all learners and colleagues can succeed, regardless of background.
Trust & Shared Responsibility
Progress emerges when people feel respected, informed, and empowered. I build cultures where shared governance is real and meaningful.
Curiosity & Lifelong Learning
Curiosity fuels innovation. I am committed to learning continuously, asking better questions, and helping others grow through evidence-based practices, reflective learning, and emerging technologies. Learning is not a phase—it is a mindset.
Empathy & Respect for People
Institutions thrive when people thrive. I approach leadership with empathy, attention, and an understanding that culture, morale, and belonging matter as much as strategy. People come first—not as a slogan, but as a practice.
Responsibility & Stewardship
I take seriously the responsibility to strengthen systems, guide resources wisely, and leave every institution stronger than I found it.
